OUR CRAFTSMANSHIP

WHY ACETATE?
Our frames are made from handmade acetate, which is a plant-based material.
Acetate is essentially made from wood pulp being combined with agents such as acetic acid (vinegar) and then spun into fibres. These fibres are then moulded into shapes, such as our frames!
Acetate is recognised as being stronger, more flexible, lighter weight and has longer durability than regular plastic frames. It has hypoallergenic qualities and therefore a potentially good choice for those with sensitive skin.
The depth of colour you can achieve through acetate cannot be matched by synthetic plastics.
Acetate is often considered a more sustainable alternative to traditional plastics as it is derived from renewable sources.

Why CR-39 Lenses?
As of July 2019, all sunglasses sold in Australia must be tested and labelled according to the Australian/New Zealand standard AS/NZS 1067.1:2016 - which ours are!
Sunglasses with CR-39 lenses are often considered an excellent choice as they have the same visibility and clarity as real glass, but they are much more lighter, slimmer and durable.
CR-39 lenses also have a special UV coating that absorbs and reflects UVA/UVB rays. This protection is essential for maintaining eye health and preventing long-term damage.

WHY STAINLESS STEEL HINGES?
Hinges are an essential component of your eyewear, enabling flexibility, comfort, and durability.
Stainless steel hinges are known for their endurance and strength. They are also resistant to rust and corrosion and do not require cleaning.
Our stainless steel barrel hinges are designed to aesthetically compliment our frames, whilst also providing you with long-term wear.
